Sunday Story – My Experience.
It was last Sunday of Jan 2011. I woke up late, the day everyone loves, no work, just relaxing. Wow! Sometimes I feel all days should be Sunday. I started reading newspaper and felt sad for people who lost their lives in Egypt due to communal violence. I couldn’t read further as I was getting disturbed by water flowing at full-speed from my bathroom tap. I asked my wife, why she isn’t closing the tap. She said since morning, tap got repaired. I didn’t feel glad with her reply, I tried closing the tap in all directions, but water wasn’t stopping. I tried tying a cloth and also anti-water leaking paste, nothing worked and water is still flowing. Got Fed-up and thought to get a plumber to fix it.

I called more than 10 plumbers, who all denied helping me out, as it was Sunday. I thought I can find some plumbers outside and went searching on roads, and I found no one. All plumbing shops were closed, as its Lovely Sunday. My god, I was really worried as half of my water tank would have become empty. Lazy Sunday has taken me for a ride.
I found one hardware shop and I requested him to somehow get me a plumber, he also said, as its Sunday, everyone would relax, no one will be willing to work. Seeing me upset, he said I can fix the problem myself. I had to try this option, as I have no choice left out. He said the procedure and gave a new spindle for the tap. I reached home and I was really worried, why it was Sunday.
I opened the tool-box and still I wasn’t confident about solving this problem. I started removing the old tap and fixed the new one and water stopped suddenly. I fixed it, I was so happy and all smiles in my face. My bathroom was calm all of sudden as pouring sound of water was so noisy. At that moment, I felt it’s better to learn basics. Such small jobs, we fail to learn and are totally dependent on plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc...
I always feel its better I give money and get things done, rather do it myself. A typical rich guy’s attitude and this makes me much dependent and poor too. But today, I felt it’s better to learn basic things, which I can do myself. It makes life so simple and sensible.
